Silver and Bronze Medal for Gyaneshwari Yadav on Day 3 of the 2026 Asian Senior Weightlifting Championships
Gandhinagar, Gujarat – The 2026 Asian Senior Weightlifting Championships, which commenced on 11 May 2026 at the prestigious Mahatma Mandir & Exhibition Centre, continues to witness exceptional performances from across the continent. The championship features participation from 28 Asian nations and 2 Commonwealth nations and serves as a qualifying event for the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
A total of 178 elite athletes are competing, making it one of the most significant international sporting events hosted in India this year.
On the third day of competition, India added to its medal tally as Gyaneshwari Yadav delivered an impressive performance in 53Kg weight category securing a Silver Medal in the Snatch section and Bronze Medal in Total with a combined lift of 194 kg.
The Gold Medal in the category was claimed by Jinlan Zhao (China) with a total lift of 216 kg, while the Silver Medal was secured by Hoai Huong Nguyen (Vietnam) with a total of 195 kg.

Gyaneshwari Yadav’s achievement marks a proud moment for Indian weightlifting, highlighting the rising standard and international competitiveness of Indian women athletes.
