The eighth day of the IWLF National Youth, Junior, and Senior Weightlifting Championships 2025-26 witnessed a historic performance at the Yadav Farm House. Sandip Das Roy of Tamil Nadu emerged as the standout performer of the day, shattering national records in the Junior Men’s 88 kg category.
Junior Section: Sandip Das Roy Rewrites the Record Books
Tamil Nadu’s Sandip Das Roy delivered a masterclass in the Men’s 88 kg Junior division. Roy secured the gold medal with a phenomenal total lift of 322 kg. Along the way, he established new national records in both the Clean & Jerk and Total categories:
- Snatch: 146 kg (Rank 1)
- Clean & Jerk: 176 kg (New National Record)
- Total: 322 kg (New National Record)
Other medalists in the Junior Men’s 88 kg category included:
- Silver: Mayank (Haryana) – Total: 297 kg
- Bronze: S. Gurunaidu (Andhra Pradesh) – Total: 285 kg
Senior Section: G. Ravi Shankar Claims Gold
In the Senior Men’s 88 kg category, G. Ravi Shankar representing the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) clinched the top spot on the podium. Shankar demonstrated consistent strength throughout his attempts, finishing with a total lift of 322 kg.

- Bronze: Hrudananda Das (Odisha) – Total: 313 kg
Youth Section: Haryana Dominates 88 kg Category
The Youth Men’s 88 kg category saw a dominant performance by lifters from Haryana, who secured both the gold and silver medals. Shah Hussain took the top honors following a strong Clean & Jerk performance.
- Gold: Shah Hussain (Haryana) – Total: 275 kg
- Silver: Hemraj (Haryana) – Total: 274 kg
- Bronze: G. Lalrintluanga (Mizoram) – Total: 273 kg
