The stage at the 2025 Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships
– Ahmedabad sparkled with grit and glory on Day 4, as India’s young and senior lifters delivered remarkable performances.
In the Youth Girls 69 kg category, Juhitha Guna of India rose to the occasion with a spirited display of power and determination, lifting 76 kg in Snatch and 92 kg in Clean & Jerk, for an impressive total of 168 kg. Her fearless performance lit up the arena, underlining the promising future of Indian weightlifting.
In the Senior Women 69 kg category, India celebrated another podium finish as Harjinder Kaur clinched bronze with a strong 99 kg Snatch and 123 kg Clean & Jerk, totalling 222 kg. Harjinder’s resilience and consistency reinforced India’s growing stature in the sport on the global stage.
The category also witnessed history, as Islamiat Adebukola Yusuf of Nigeria shattered the Senior Commonwealth Women’s 69 kg Clean
& Jerk record, lifting 131 kg, surpassing the previous mark of 130 kg set by Charlotte Simoneau (Canada).
