President’s Desk

Sports serve society by providing vivid examples of excellence.

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It is with great honour that I extend my warmest greetings to the weightlifting fraternity of India. As President of the Indian Weightlifting Federation I am pleased to announce that in such a short duration, we rose to the occasions and hundreds of laurels have been won by our athletes in International events

Doping endangers our sport at many levels – and we should all fight to preserve the health of our weightlifters but also ensure that there are ethics in sport and we fight to keep sport attractive to sponsors, media and to the general public, for whom the medal winners are the ROLE MODELS.

The laudable achievements showcased by our Youth athletes in the yester years have put on track the preparations for forthcoming 2014 Commonwealth Games, Asian Games & Youth Olympic Games and 2016 Rio Olympics.

It is with the continuous effort of one and all that prospered the sport of weightlifting in India and abroad..

I would like to take this opportunity in congratulating my fellow members for the confidence reposed in me.

I would like to thank Dr. Tamas Ajan, President of International Weightlifting Federation for their continued support towards India.

To all competing athletes and officials of the Country, I wish everybody best of luck in their endeavour in the pursuit of great performances.
